Favorites: Season Edition

I asked my readers/followers to offer some blog ideas that they would like to read.  One from my good friend Emily stuck out; she asked me to share what my favorite season is, and list at least five reasons why.  In natural Sarah fashion, I have been unable to pick one (hah).  So, to stick to Emily's prompt, I will instead share five reasons why I love every season (in no particular order)!

Winter:
1. My entire world blanketed in white
2. The holidays!!
3. Snowmobiling
4. Cuddling up in blankets
5. The bare tree branches coated in snow
6. Spring is coming





Spring:
1. Metaphorical/physical rebirth of plants/life
2. All the color and warmth
3. I love the rain/thunderstorms
4. Flowers!
5. The fresh air - especially after that rain!
6. Summer is coming
Summer:
1. Swimming/beaches
2. Family vacation
3. The sun/warmth (again)
4. Campfires
5. The clear and starry night skies
6. Fall is coming



Fall:
1. The colors - those shades of orange, red, and yellow are beautiful
2. Perfect temperature - it's not too hot or too cold
3. Sign the holidays are coming!!
4. Hockey starts every October
5. Apple cider
6. Winter is coming



There are many things I love about every season, but these are just a handful of my absolute favorites, whether they actually have to do with the season or are just correlated to them.  I hope you enjoy this little snippet into me.  Tell me - what is your favorite season and why?

"We Accept the Love We Think We Deserve": A Personal Response

Whether or not you have read or seen The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, I'm sure you have heard his popular quote "we accept the love we think we deserve."  If you haven't, then consider this my shameless plug - I would personally grab the book, but both are great works of art. This book, in short, follows Charlie throughout his freshman year of high school as he deals with loneliness and a childhood trauma his subconscious can no longer suppress.  Charlie, the narrator of Perks , also says "I am both happy and sad at the same time, and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."  I believe most people can relate, to some degree, to both of these quotes.  Whether your sadness is based off an exhausting day or a death, or your happiness is based off someone paying for your groceries or marrying the love of your life, we have all known a few happy/sad days. Griefaries: Five

 May 17, 2022 (Tuesday) This entire week of my life so far (which has literally just been Monday and Tuesday, but damn it feels so much longer already), has been consumed with thoughts of guilt. Sunday night, my sleep was held off by the thought that I could have saved my mom. I don’t know if you’ve ever lost your mom, or anyone you love dearly, and if you’ve had similar thoughts, but they’re pretty brutal. The thing is, as I’m sure most of you all know, my mom died unexpectedly. She didn’t feel good the day before, and was gone by 6 the next morning.  But the other thing is, we had noticed her swollen ankles. A few weeks or months before she passed, because what is time, we noticed that her ankles were swollen for some reason.
